“Legally Blonde’ brings feminist themes to the annual spring musical” by Caroline Erskine is an opinion piece based on Syracuse University’s spring musical. The play is based on the movie Legally Blonde where a sorority girl realizes she is more than just a pretty girl and throughout the movie she realizes her smarts and strengths in the real world. The play explores this even more and is a great example for many young women to grow and that they can truly be anything if they put the work in. Many people that were in the play as well as in the crowd, had said that the actors and actresses really reinvented their characters and also put their own special twists on these characters. Overall, the musical really helped bring a feeling of empowerment to women and what they can do.
“SU alumna Christine Lane remembered for creativity, ‘sparkling’ energy” by Henry Daley is an article that talks about what Christine Lane is remembered for at Syracuse University after she passed away in January of this year. Lane’s college friends were interviewed by Daley and they all expressed how one of the first things they noticed about Lane was her creativity, and how their friend group would go to places like JOANN fabrics so that Lane could sew festive curtains for the holidays. Leah Johnson, one of Lane’s college friends explains “‘Her energy was amazing, like sparkling, and everyone loved her, and her laugh was just contagious,’ Johnson said. ‘She was just an amazing person.’” Her friends expressed how much they all loved her and how much she truly meant to them all and their children as well. Daley does a great job of making sure Christine Lane has a legacy of what she was remembered for at Syracuse University.
