“SU extends test-optional policy for 2026-27 admissions cycle” by Julia Boehning is an article about Syracuse University using the test-optional policy for the 5th year in a row. This allows students to apply without SAT or ACT scores. This approach started in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to make admissions more accessible. “Opinion: Gen Z prioritizes appearance of productivity over true connection” by By Maya Aguirre is an opinion piece about people in this generation using the website LinkedIn as more of a social media platform instead of a networking tool. While LinkedIn was meant to support real professional ties, its features now often encourage unmeaningful interactions and comparisons, especially among young people. The pressure to appear successful online, through posts, connection counts, or even spending $29.99 on LinkedIn Premium tools, can contribute to blending personal and professional lives, sometimes in unhealthy ways. Aguirre explains how young adults are using LinkedIn to try and get more connections and racing others to get there instead of using it for professional connections.
