Valerie’s Scratch Kitchen

Valerie’s Scratch Kitchen is a four star brunch restaurant that has signature star meals that customers rave about. They are known for their monte cristo sandwich, their seven different types of egg benedicts, and their signature homemade mac and cheese. Not only is the food amazing, but while reading this article, you will understand that the atmosphere is welcoming and kind.

 While interviewing their waitress, Jennifer, has been serving people at Valerie’s Scratch Kitchen for over twenty years, she has a bubbly and outgoing personality and seems like she loves the environment she works in. Valerie’s Scratch kitchen has many great options for brunch. They have plenty of omelets, eggs, burgers, sides, salads and sandwiches. Just from walking into the building you can feel the happy energy that seems to just radiate off the place and you can tell by the quiet upbeat music and friendly smiles throughout the building. When asking about Jennifer’s favorite dishes, she expressed how much she liked the monte cristo and how it is not the most common sandwich so it is a staple for Valerie’s. On the right you can see the monte cristo sandwich from Valerie’s, and it gets served with a side of maine maple syrup and deliciously crispy home fries. Jennifer explained “A monte cristo is a type of sandwich that is dipped into an egg batter deep fried until golden. Our take on this sandwich is making it with ham, turkey, and swiss cheese, while making sure that everything molds together perfectly to make a fantastic monte cristo.” 

Another one of the signature dishes is the eggs benedict. There are seven different types of egg benedicts; eggs benedict with homemade hash, eggs benedict blackstone, eggs benedict irish with canned hash, eggs benedict irish, eggs benedict, eggs benedict florentine, loaded steak benedict, steak benedict, veggie benedict. Out of all of these, Jennifer claims “The Irish eggs benedict is my favorite because it can either be made with homemade corned beef hash or with canned hash. The homemade corned beef hash is by far the better option but it is slightly more expensive so either one is fine.”

Jennifer also talked about her personal/fan favorite, the homemade mac and cheese. “The mac and cheese here is baked so it has an extra cheesy crisp top, while being creamy and delicious under that ”, Jeniffer states. The mac and cheese has a white cheddar cheese base, while the top has a three cheese layer of crisp baked cheese. On the left you can see a picture of the mac and cheese right out of the oven, you can see just from the picture the crispy, cheesy top and the creamy white cheddar cheese.

Valerie’s Scratch Kitchen is a four star restaurant for a definite reason, their food is homemade and delicious and hundreds of people have left positive reviews about not only the food but also the environment. One of their policies is “Our philosophy is to provide our customers with excellent food, drinks, and exceptional service with an atmosphere that makes guests feel right at home.”  And they do an exceptional job at doing just that.
